Kachin National Flag

Kachin National Flag

For the Kachin people to have an autonomous state where they can live free from state sanctioned human rights abuses and discrimination, teach their language and history, practice their culture and religion of choice and manage their own resources and laws.

Some possible ways to achieve this are

the Union of Myanmar to make a new constitution that is based on the principles the of Panglong which the union was founded on, such as equality and autonomy.

A bartered peace agreement by a 3rd party such as China, the US or EU.  The Burmese government has made and broken many agreements in the past.  The KIO would like a neutral country to negotiate and help enforce a fair and lasting peace agreement.

For the UN to give a vote for self-determination, like in East Timor.  Important 2 page UN resolution concerning Universal realization of the right of peoples to self-determination

For individual counties to start recognizing the Kachin State as a nation and ultimately for the UN to accept Kachin as a member state.
